The Center for the Study of the Urban Child
VUU's Center for the Study of the Urban Child is designed to serve as a critically essential resource hub and informational clearinghouse for researchers, practitioners, and community stakeholders who desire to improve the quality of life for urban youth through information sharing, dissemination as well as the promotion of child-centered advocacy, research, education, policy development, and evidence-based preventive and interventive programmatic best practices.
By virtue of its mission, which is to translate research into actionable knowledge by articulating best practices; conducting and disseminating research; evaluating, revising, and establishing policy and promoting education in the area of the urban environment and its impact on the developing child, the Center seeks to heighten awareness, sensitivity, and responsiveness regarding critical urban child issues in the academic, practitioner and residential communities.
