Virginia Union Announces Founders Day Speaker

     (Richmond, VA) – Dr. Aaron L. Dobynes will serve as speaker for Virginia Union University’s annual Founders Day.  The ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Allix B. James Chapel of Coburn Hall on Friday, February 1, 2013.

      A fourth generation preacher, Dr. Dobynes received the Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University and the Doctor of Ministry from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.  His first pastorate was with the Pleasant Plain Baptist Church in Drewryville, Virginia.  Currently, he is the Senior Pastor of the Evergreen Baptist Church of Shreveport, Louisiana.

     Dr. Dobynes has also held a number of academic appointments, including professor, Dean of Religious Studies, and Executive Vice President at Selma University.  He currently serves as Associate Director of the Doctoral Program of Theology and Homiletics at Virginia University at Lynchburg.
