Virginia Union Professor Publishes 32nd Book

(Richmond, VA) - Dr. Thomas Fensch, Chair of the Department of Mass Communications at Virginia Union University, has released a new book entitled At the Dangerous Edge of Social Justice: Race, Violence and Death in America. Dr. Fensch’s 32nd publication is a book of profiles in courage on facing prejudice in America. 

The book includes chapters on the murders of Emmett Till, Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., James Byrd, Jr., and Trayvon Martin. “Fensch forces us to remember the bloody history of those courageous freedom fighters whose lives and deaths continue to confront the lie of a post-racist America,” said Robert Bonazzi, author of Man in the Mirror: John Howard Griffin and The Story of Black Like Me.

Dr. Fensch’s other publications include five books about author John Steinbeck. He has also published books about Ernest Hemingway, James Thurber, Oskar Schindler, and John Howard Griffin.
