Entrepreneurship
The Virginia Union University Center for Small Business Development (CSBD), currently operating out of the Sydney Lewis School of Business, works with many corporate partners and community agencies to: (1) strengthen entrepreneurship education and community outreach for students, and (2) provides practical learning experience for students through internship opportunities with business owners and non-profit organizations. By combining entrepreneurship education with internship training, students are prepared for a future as entrepreneurs or for success in corporate America.
Hands-On Practical Experience/Internship Program: “After Hour Grill” is a student-run, food service joint venture between Virginia Union University and Thompson Hospital. It provides opportunity for students to gain work experience and earn income while completing their degrees. Supervised, on-the-job-experience (internship) is also encouraged of all SLSB business in a professional work setting.
