SCHOLARSHIPS 

Virginia Union University offers a large number of scholarships to new students who enter each academic year. The awards are automatically (based on available funds) included in the acceptance letter. Additional scholarships are Baptist General Convention Scholarship and Smithfield-Luter Foundation Scholarship and the Links Scholars.

Incentive Grant - $2,000   The student must enter the University with a 2.50 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) or higher. This grant is awarded annually and may be renewed for three consecutive years if the recipient maintains at least a 2.5 GPA each academic year.

Merit Scholarship - $4,000   The student must enter the University with a 3.00 – 3.49 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) with one of the following: (a) SAT test score of 800 (combined Critical Reading and Math) or (b) ACT test score of 16. This scholarship is awarded annually and may be renewed for three consecutive years if the recipient maintains at least a 3.00 GPA each academic year.

Merit Scholarship - $5,000    The student must enter the University with a 3.50 – 3.79 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) with one of the following: (a) SAT test score of 800 (combined Critical Reading and Math) or (b) ACT test score of 16. This scholarship is awarded annually and may be renewed for three consecutive years if the recipient maintains at least a 3.50 GPA each academic year.

Merit Scholarship - $8,000     The student must enter the University with a 3.80 or higher Grade Point Average (GPA) with one of the following: (a) SAT test score of 800 (combined Critical Reading and Math) or (b) ACT test score of 16. This scholarship is awarded annually and may be renewed for three consecutive years if the recipient maintains at least a 3.80 GPA each academic year.

Presidential Scholarship - $14,930 + up to $1,000 Complimentary Book Award     The student must enter the University with a 3.80 or higher Grade Point Average (GPA) with one of the following: (a) SAT test score of 1100 (combined Critical Reading and Math) or (b) ACT test score of 24. The student must enter VUU with a 3.8 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or higher, and maintain at least a 3.5 GPA per academic year for the first academic year and a 3.6 GPA or higher for the remaining three years.  The student must be enrolled full time each fall and spring semester at VUU and earn a minimum of 30 credit hours (August – May) per academic year.

Presidential Honors Scholarship - $16,500 + up to $1,000 Complimentary Book Award      The student must enter the University with a 3.80 or higher Grade Point Average (GPA) with one of the following: (a) SAT test score of 1250 (combined Critical Reading and Math) or (b) ACT test score of 28. The student must enter VUU with a 3.8 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or higher, and maintain at least a 3.5 GPA per academic year for the first academic year and a 3.6 GPA or higher for the remaining three years.  The student must be enrolled full time each fall and spring semester at VUU and earn a minimum of 30 credit hours (August – May) per academic year.

Baptist General Convention   The Baptist General Convention (BGC) Scholarship is awarded to new students who are members of a Virginia BGC Church. The student must have a 2.50 or higher Grade Point Average (GPA) with a copy of the SAT or ACT test scores on file. The scholarship is a one-time award. There are ten available BGC scholarships to be awarded per academic year.

Smithfield-Luter Scholarship   The Smithfield-Luter Foundation is proud to provide educational scholarships to the dependent children and grandchildren of full-time and retired employees of Smithfield and our family of companies. The student must be accepted to Virginia Union University and have a completed FAFSA on file. The scholarship is renewable up to four years.

Links Scholars   Virginia Union University partners with J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College and The Links, Incorporated on a national initiative sponsored by the Lumina Foundation and USA Funds. The project intends to increase collaboration between the community college and historically black colleges and universities, ultimately increasing student graduation rates and success.  The application can be completed and returned to Links@vuu.edu
