Dear Virginia Union University Alumni,
As the Director of Alumni Relations, I am excited about the opportunity to engage and connect with my fellow alumni as we work toward continuing the legacy of our great alma mater, Virginia Union University. Our graduates have gone on to distinguish themselves in business, medicine, politics, clergy and many other fields and are taking leadership roles in their respective areas of expertise.
As a 2008 graduate of VUU, and one of more than 8,000 alumni, I understand the story behind the dear old walls and the vision our ancestors worked so hard to achieve when they founded the University in 1865. I spent four wonderful years at VUU and completed my degree in mass communications in 2008. The years spent at Union taught me how to be a leader, strive for excellence and to always give back to my community.
In this position as Director of Alumni Relations, I plan to continue strengthening the bond between the University and the alumni; create programs that match the interests and needs of alumni; increase giving and participation, and assist in developing a culture that teaches younger alumni to give back. In addition, I look forward to working with our future alumni, the Pre-Alumni Council, and preparing them to lead their respective classes during their matriculation at VUU and after graduation.
I hope that you will join me as I pledge $1,000 to the Panther 1000 Challenge, “1,000 Panthers giving $1,000”. Our alma mater needs our continued support and through our giving we can continue the legacy created among these hallowed grounds and dear old walls.
I am strongly committed to the mission and vision of the University and look forward to your involvement, participation and continued support through giving, campus involvement and recruitment. If I may be of assistance, please contact me at (804) 342-3938 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
