DATA ANALYST
School of Mathematics, Science and Technology (SMST)
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities: assisting with coordinating the functions of the SMST
This position requires a highly motivated individual to organize, document and maintain all official data tables, records non–expendable asset inventories (primarily automated systems) retention and graduation data analyses for the SMST. The SMST is composed of the office-of the-dean, the departments of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Computer Information Systems and Computer Sciences. The data analyst (DA) will assist in maintaining stock levels for routine statistical analyses materials (to include computer hardware, software, other expendables and peripherals) pertinent to support of the School mission. The DA will coordinate with subordinate unit administrators (chairpersons) and administrative assistants to assist the Dean with determining data analysis needs of these units to include technical assistance with assessment reports, plans, institutional effectiveness matrices and the like. Additionally this individual will be responsible for tracking SMST alumni and providing data and/or necessary graphics for special reports and presentations. This individual will also assist with marketing design and recruiting brochures for presentation to potential STEM students interested in matriculating through the University. Recruiting efforts and motivational presentation techniques to all University stakeholders are expected. This individual will also collect, collate and manage extramural student intern and fellowship career opportunities for workforce, graduate and professional opportunities in STEM.
Minimum Qualifications: Ideally this individual would have an undergraduate degree in a STEM area and background in data collection techniques and associated administrative management of data sets with preferably experience (2 years+) in the field. Microsoft Certification and /or a master’s degree in a STEM area would be highly preferred. Knowledge of statistical analysis packages and multimedia graphics display applications would also place the candidate for this position in the upper tier.
