(For two semester appointment to the endowed chair in Marketing)


Job Description: VUU Sydney Lewis School of Business seeks a two-semester Visiting Professor in Marketing beginning January 2013 or August 2014. This position is designed to expand the variety of marketing offerings to our students and community. VUU is a small HBCU whose motto is the promise of a limitless future; this position allows a vibrant, community involved academic scholar or executive to share his or her experience with the next generation of leaders. The person serving in this position is expected to contribute in three areas.  First, in teaching a course or two focused on current marketing issues for our undergraduate students. Secondly, this person would conduct at minimum two workshops per semester for faculty and students on current topics. Additionally, this person will assist the staff of the Center for Small Business Development in offering training programs to the community.

Virginia Union University is situated in Richmond, Virginia, the capital of the commonwealth of Virginia. The University is an active participant in Richmond’s vibrant business community. The historic city is a short drive from Atlantic beaches and Appalachian Mountains and is less than two hours south of Washington, D.C.

Minimum Qualifications: The candidate should possess demonstrated expertise in Marketing. Ideally, the candidate would possess a terminal degree in Marketing or a graduate degree in Marketing and executive level career experience. Both a master’s degree with an emphasis in marketing (at least 15 graduate hours) and higher education teaching experience are required. We are especially interested in candidates with executive or research experience in online retailing, social media advertising, data base marketing, supply chain management, or global distribution. Rank is dependent on qualifications. Official copies of college transcripts from a regionally accredited institution must be on file by the appointment date.
