GRADAID@vuu.edu NOW AVAILABLE!!! STVU students are encouraged to submit general and non-emergency financial aid questions and concerns to GRADAID@vuu.edu. Emergency or 2nd request e-mails only should be sent to the Coordinator’s mailbox. Requests to the GradAid Mailbox will be reviewed and responded to within 3 working days. Non-emergency requests to the Coordinator’s mailbox will not be answered. STVU students should not send Financial Aid inquiries or requests to FINAID@vuu.edu. This website is for “undergraduate students only. The Graduate Financial Aid Office at STVU does not have access to e-mail sent to this address.

Summer School F/A- TH (DAY) students will need to complete and return a Summer School F/A Application to be considered for additional financial aid for the May- July school term. TH students are also required to take two classes to be considered for full-time f/a. This application is available on the STVU Website and due on/before May 1, 2008. NTH student with a loan disbursement set for May 2008 have already been processed for summer aid and do not need to submit a Summer School F/A Application.

Student Refunds: Students will be notified via e-mail of a refund request being sent to the Office of Student Accounts for processing. A list showing the last 4 STVU ID# digits (not social security #) will be sent via e-mail to all STVU Students. It is therefore very important that students obtain an STVU e-mail account. Also, if your mailbox if full—the mail will be rejected. The Office of Graduate F/A Refunds are usually available for pick up after 2 pm on the Friday indicated. Students may also pick up refunds on the following Monday – Thursday 9 am to 3:30 pm from the Office of Student Accounts located in the C.D. King Bldg.

Please send an e-mail request to RSGivens@Vuu.edu, (Office of Student Accounts), if you prefer your refund check to be mailed. Be sure to include the correct mailing address and allow time for delivery.

2008-09 Forms ON-LINE: All required forms for the upcoming 2008-09 school term will be available to students on the VUU Website. Under the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology tab students should click the tab Financial Aid then click 2008-09 Processing Forms. Remember the Financial Aid Data sheet should be completed and returned to the Office of Graduate Financial Aid. The 2008-09 FAFSA should be completed (preferably electronically) and submitted to the processor (not VUU/STVU).

Tips for Completing the FAFSA- VUU/STVU school code = 003766

(1) Every attempt should be made to complete your Federal Tax Refund prior to completing your FAFSA. This will result in more accurate calculating of information submitted.
(2) Review the information “before” you actually submit. Sometimes in a rush to “send” the information – adequate attention is not spent reviewing data for accuracy

Some Common FAFSA Mistakes:

  • Question - Number of students in family attending college – Count yourself. Include other family members that can be verified as enrolled at an institution of higher education.
  • Question – What degree or certificate will you be working on- Answer is Graduate Degree.
  • Level in college – As an STVU student, your selection should be 1st year or continuing graduate student.
  • Amount of Investments –students should not include the value of their primary home/residence.

The F/A Data Sheet – this form is available on-line under the STVU- F/A link. Please remember to complete the form as accurately as possible. Pay special attention to the following questions:

  • Are you classified as NTH or Day (TH)?
  • Are you planning to attend all sessions (fall, winter, spring, and summer)? If your graduation date is May, you should not be planning to attend the May or summer term.
  • Do you live locally-- within 50 miles of STVU (one way)? If no, give mileage amount.
  • Will you be staying overnight (for NTH or students who do not live locally)?

STUDENT LOAN UPDATES:

  • Students have a right to select their loan lender. Each student should indicate their selection on the Student Data Sheet.
  • Students with prior loans - unless a student notifies the Office of Graduate Financial Aid otherwise, the same lender will be used for all loans processed.
  • The dollar amount for loans certified by the Office of Graduate Financial Aid is based on a budget established from the F/A Data Sheet and FAFSA results.
